Today is my 18th year old birthday!Oh, I'm already 18 years old, Laurina is thinking inside her heart.Times passed by really quickly, and mommy & daddy had already left me for a total of 13 years!!!Do you know how much I have missed both of you?Laurina then slowly opening her drawer to take out a piece of picture – in which there is a man, a woman and a baby girl.That is Laurina’s family picture, and it is also the only picture ever taken by her parents.
When Laurina was just about to cry, she heard that her room has been knocked twice.Laurina hurried to open the door, and she saw her great auntie Clara.Aunt Clara is Laurina's adopted mother, and she is also the best friend of Laurina's mom Kiki.Aunt Clara saw that Laurina's eyes were red and teary, and she knew that Laurina must be thinking of her parents.Aunt Clara then said “Laurina, my dear, today is your 18th year old birthday.Both Uncle Tom and I have invited all of your friends and classmates to come over for your birthday party, and you should hurry up to get dressed and have fun downstairs!When Aunt Clara was about to leave Laurina's room, she told Laurina to find her when the party is over tonight.Laurina is thinking Aunt Clara & Uncle Tom must be giving a birthday gift to me afterwards.
Laurina then took out the piece of dress in which Aunt Clara bought her a few days ago.She wore the dress and she saw that she really looks like her mom.When Laurina was stepping down the stairs, a lot of people said that Laurina looks so glamorous, pure, elegant, and basically looks like an angel! When Aunt Clara and Uncle Tom heard the comments, they took a look at Laurina and they were amazed that Laurina looks exactly like Kiki.They were so relieved to see that finally Ryan & Kiki's daughter has grown up, and they should tell Laurina the story of her parents tonight.
Laurina's having a good time to share her birthday with her friends, and she received a lot of birthday gifts from them.When the party was over, Laurina went to Aunt Clara's room.Aunt Clara and Uncle Tom were teary when they saw Laurina, and they asked her to sit down.Then Aunt Clara brought up an old box to Laurina, and told her that's the birthday gift for her 18th year old birthday.Laurina was slowly opening her box, and she saw that the box was full of diaries and albums.

When Laurina got back to her room, she took all contents of the box out immediately and she saw that there were a few diaries and an album.She saw that the diaries were grouped in number, and the first diary was the oldest one.Then Laurina slowly opened the first diary and she saw that her mom had a practice of writing diary when she was 18.Most of her mom’s writing was talking about her school life until this page.Laurina then started to read it as follows: 12 March 1982 (Sunny day) Oh, what a sunny day again! I really enjoy going to school on a sunny day.It gives me warmth and energy. Today I go to school with Clara once again.Basically we do all things together, going to school, shopping, doing sports, etc.Sometimes I’m wondering how I can live without her as we have been so close together since primary school.Uncle Moses always laughed at us and he said that we’re like twins.In addition, he also said that when Clara and I got marry in future, we should live next to each other.Both Clara and I love this idea very much, and we hope that our friendship can last forever! As Clara and I don’t have much homework to do this afternoon, we are planned to go to the shopping mall together.We are decided to ride bus to the mall, and while we are on the way to it, a terrible thing almost happened to me.When Clara stepped away from the bus, I followed immediately after her.But I didn’t pay attention to the traffic, and I was almost hit by a car.A man has pulled me away from the car, and he had basically rescued me.I was really scared after the incident, and Clara has approached me and seeing if I’m ok or not. I saw Clara’s face has been turning red, and I asked her what happened.Then she used her little finger to point out that I was actually being held by a man!I was stunned for a while, and then I took a look at the man.When I saw his face, I was astonished at his good appearance – he’s tall, lean, well-build, and the most importantly, very handsome!I think he’s the best looking guy that I have ever seen so far on my life!I felt that my face has been slowly turning red, and I have decided to get away from him.I slowly stand up, and I took out my hand and thank him for rescuing me. He is a very polite man, and he spoke very gently to me that I should pay more attention to the traffic next time.I was still looking at him very carefully afterwards, and I have decided to introduce myself to him.He told me that his name is Ryan, and he’s a photographer for a newspaper publisher.When he’s about to leave, he suddenly turned around and told me that I’m a very attractive young lady.I was so glad to hear his comment, and I really hope that I would be able to meet with him once again! <To be continued> (3)
After watching the end of the chapter, Laurina finally knew how her mom & dad have met each other.She has been seeking this answer for such a long time now, but unfortunately, nobody can answer her.Laurina was so glad to have those diaries with her, as they may solve the mysteries of her mom & dad's lives.
Laurina woke up very early in the next morning, and she's hurried to see her mom's diaries once again.She saw that her mom had a very good impression of her dad after that incident, and she's always dreaming of him whenever she went to school, sleeping, eating and, basically, her dad's face popped up every minute on her mind.Aunt Clara laughed at her mom very often after the accident, and her mom knew that she must be falling in love with her dad on her first sight.Laurina was getting bored after reading the next few chapters as she realized that her mom & dad didn't have a chance to meet with each other for a few months.
Finally she read a page that has caught her attention.
10 July 1982 (Sunny day)
It's already 4 months now! I realized that I didn't forget about him at all.Am I really in love with him?
It's July already, and I've started my summer holiday.Clara and I really don't have a lot of things to do; therefore, we were decided to go to the beach and have a swim.When we arrived at the beach, we realized that there weren't many people swimming there.We hurried to get changed, and prepare to have fun.When I was just about to step into the water, I saw that there was a man standing very far away from us, and he's holding a camera to try to take pictures.My heart nearly stopped beating on that minute, and I have decided to walk closer to the man, and see whether he's the one that I've been dreaming for the past 4 months.
When I walked into close distance with the man, I saw that he was indeed Ryan!I thought that I was dreaming at that moment, and I've decided to slap my face a few times.Then I realized that it was true, and finally I've met him again!Ryan also noticed me, and he's smiling very warmly to me.He told me that he's taking photographs at the beach, and he has invited me to be his model.I accepted his invitation, and he was started to take pictures of me, together with the beach.I saw that he's a very professional photographer, and I really enjoyed looking at him when he's concentrating on his work.
Ryan noticed that I was staring at him, and he asked me whether his face has been dirty or not.I lied to him and I told him that his face was dirty, and I should grab a piece of paper towel to clear the dirt for him.He gave me a piece of it, and I was finally able to see his face in close distance again & touching it for the first time! I was so excited about it, and I really enjoy having a close contact with him.
When he's about to leave the beach, he asked me for my contact number.He told me that he's planning to give the pictures back to me later on, and I was extremely excited that I'll be having another opportunity to meet with him in the near future!

(4)After Laurina finished taking a look at this chapter, she realized that both her mom & dad did like each other very much.She was trying to take a look at the next few chapters to see when her parents started to go together, and she read a page as follows: 20 August 1982 (Foggy day) This morning I was woke up by a phone call.I was really angry to answer the call as I think that this person was interrupting my dream with Ryan.When I picked up the phone, I heard that a man was calling me Kiki, and I asked him who he was.He told me that he was Ryan, and I suddenly woke up and asked him what’s up.He said that the pictures were ready now, and he would like to meet with me this afternoon.Immediately I told him that I’ll be available, and we’ve decided to meet on a café.I was extremely excited about it, and I’ve decided to wake up and prepared for the meeting. After my careful consideration, I chose a long dress in ivory color, and I’ve also decided to loosen my hair to look a bit more mature.I took a look at the mirror, and I thought that he should be happy about my look today.As I was worried that I may have traffic jam during lunch hour, therefore, I’ve decided to arrive earlier to the café.When I arrived at the café, I saw that Ryan was already there.He was wearing a blue shirt with khaki pants, and he’s looking absolutely fantastic!I saw that he’s also taking a look at me, and his eyes were full of appreciation. Ryan is a gentleman, and he really took care of me during our meeting.He always noticed my need, and I have a great sense of security when I’m with him.During our lunch, Ryan started to tell me about his family and work.Ryan is the only child on his family, but unfortunately, both of his parents passed away when he’s a kid.He has spent his child & teenager life on a child social centre.I was really sad to know his story, and he has started to ask about mine.I told him that I was also the only child on my family, and my father is a businessman. After lunch, Ryan invited me to have a walk.I said yes to him, and we went to a park to continue our meeting.He took out my pictures, and I saw that I look really good on them.He told me that I’m the best model that he had seen so far, and after hearing his compliments, my face has started to turn red.Ryan suddenly asked me have I ever been in love before, and I was quite embarrassed to tell him my answer. I thought Ryan must be seeing my poor reaction, and he suddenly took my hands and soothed me a bit.He then slowly asked me “Kiki, I think I have fallen in love with you on my first sight….. May I ask you to become my girlfriend?I know that I’m not yet a wealthy & successful person, but I will try my best to protect you and to provide you with a good living condition in the future…I hope that your parents won’t mind their daughter to be with a poor guy…”When I heard Ryan’s request, I was so shocked but of course very happy on my heart.Ryan saw that I was speechless on that moment, and he said that it’s ok to reject him.I was scared that he’ll misunderstand my meaning, and I’ve decided to give him a hug.Ryan was very surprised when he saw me hugging him and kissed him on his face.I thought it was the best moment that I’ve ever had so far on my live, and I told myself that I’m finally in love with him!<To be continued>

来给ada捧个场，试着翻译了一下这篇文章，今天只翻译了第一部分，以后慢慢再发。以下是翻译内容：

伶俐感到想哭，这时有人敲了敲门，赶过去开了门，看到原来是莫筱筠阿姨。莫姨是伶俐的养母，也是她母亲方若绮最好的朋友。莫姨看到伶俐眼睛又哭红了，知道她是在想念她的父母，便说：“伶俐，今天是你18岁的生日，高叔叔和我已经邀请了你所有的朋友来参加你的生日派对，你快去换好衣服，然后下楼好好玩吧。”临走前，她又对伶俐说，今晚派对结束后去她那里。伶俐想，是不是高叔叔和莫姨有礼物要给我？
伶俐拿出莫姨几天前给她买的裙子，穿戴整齐后，她发现自己真的很像母亲。一步步走下楼来，人们又围上来赞扬她多么地迷人、多么纯洁、多么优雅，看起来简直就像天使。高叔叔和莫姨听到这些赞誉，忍不住也去欣赏今晚的伶俐，却惊异地发现她简直和若绮长得一模一样，也意识到今晚是该告诉她真相的时候了。
生日派对上伶俐玩得很开心，也受到了许多朋友们的礼物。派对一结束，伶俐便直奔莫姨的房间。看到伶俐，高叔叔和莫姨顿时止不住眼中的湿润。他们让伶俐坐下，莫姨随着拿出了一个旧盒子给她，告诉她说这是她的18岁生日礼物。伶俐慢慢地打开盒子，发现里面满满的都是日记和相册。

翻译后记：我也不是专门搞这个的，翻译的水平当然很有限，所以如果有译错或者中文文辞有问题，还请见谅了！我作文也很不好的说
翻译的时候发现了一些问题
1.文章我没全看完，英语又不是excellent，所以fate or destiny我不知道该怎么翻译好，也许等慢慢往下看会有答案，当然也可能是太笨的说
2.laurina是女主人公，但在casting里没有中文名字，所以我就按发音大致翻译了一个名字叫做伶俐，还希望原作者给出主人公中文名字的权威译法
3.第一部分里great auntie我不懂是什么意思，所以直接写成莫姨，ada指教
4.翻译的过程中对原文也有了了解，读时发现整体比较流畅，但翻译成中文以中文的语感来看，发觉有点太平铺直叙，多加一些描写和句意与句意间的过渡就好了，当然也可能是我中文功底太差，原来流畅的叙述被我翻译成了跳跃式的。小建议：人物刻画或许可以深些，叙述可以不要求故事发展，树干还需要树叶来装饰^_^
很少看明志文章，所以对明志文章好坏的大致评价标准也不清楚，只是想当然地来说了。其实说了这些，对ada要求可能高了点，要我自己写的话，我也未必写得出来hoho。还是很高兴见到ada小姐－爱钱爱闲爱美食又不忘瘦身的ada小姐－的明志略处女作，至少这是我看到的第一篇

Laurina was very happy to know how her parents had fallen in love with each other.Actually she was a bit surprise on her mom's aggressiveness, and she thought that she must do the same thing when she's in love in the future.
When Laurina was just about to take a look at the other chapters, she heard that her room has been knocked.She saw that Aunt Clara's son & daughter – Marco & Ruby were looking for her.Marco & Ruby have been growing up with Laurina together, and they are really good friends.Laurina is 1 year older than Ruby, and Marco is a few months older than Laurina.Even though Laurina would like to stay at home, but they had urged her to come out and have fun.
The three of them have decided to go to library first, and then they went to the cinema to watch a movie.When they arrived to the cinema, Laurina was originally intended to sit with Ruby.But Marco asked his sister to move to his side so that he can sit with Laurina.During the movie, Marco really took care of Laurina and she thought that he’s strange.He kept on passing soft drinks and popcorns to her, and he constantly asked her whether she's cold or not.Laurina found that Marco is really annoying, but she thought that she can't be rude to him.
When Laurina went back to home, she immediately studied her mom's diary again.She saw that her parents started to date each other after her father indicated his wish, and they were having a very good time with each other during the gatherings.Her mom even wrote a poem to describe her feelings after falling in love with her dad, and the poem is as follows:
Love ParadiseYou're always on my mindAll day just all the time

When Laurina finished reading the poem, she found that her mom has been deeply falling in love with her father and she knew that nothing can change their love.Suddenly she got something bad on her mind, and she's wondering whether their love will be this smooth and easy-going.

As Laurina was really curious on her parents, she kept on reading her mom's diary even though it's midnight.Suddenly she saw a page that has caught her attention.
30 November 1982 (Rainy Day) – Part I
Today was terrible.I felt very upset and horrified up to this moment, and I really don't know what I should do now.I think crying is the only thing that I can do now.
Today as usual, I went out with Ryan after he got off from work.We decided to go to shopping as I would like to buy some new clothes, and Ryan said that he will accompany me.As we were headed to the parking lot and prepare to have dinner, I heard that a man was calling my name very loud.Originally I thought that Uncle Moses was calling me, and I planned to give him a funny look.When I moved backwards, I was stunned to see that it was my father who called me a few minutes ago.I knew I was in big trouble as I didn't inform him that I was in love with Ryan.
At the same time, I saw that my father was staring at Ryan as he was holding my hands.I shoved off his hands, and I walked towards my father.I was trying to introduce Ryan to my father, and Ryan knew me and he was walking towards my father as well.I saw that my father's face was turning from green to black, and I knew that he was angry at me.My father then suddenly asked Ryan “Who are you, buddy?” and “Do you know who I am and who you're with?”I knew my father was trying to give Ryan a bad impression, and I stopped Ryan and told my father that I'll be going home to discuss the issue with him tonight.Then I held Ryan's hand and we drove away from the parking lot.
Ryan was very quiet when he drove, and I asked him why he's not asking me questions.He told me that he's trying to calm down, and when he's ready, he will ask me.I never heard such stern words from him, and I started to cry out loud.He suddenly stopped his car and he leaned towards the steering wheel.I saw that he was puzzled and confused, and I tried to comfort him by giving him a big hug.When my arms almost reached his shoulders, he shoved me off and he said that he has never been so insulted before.I was very hurt at that moment, and I cried out once again.I asked him why he's rejecting my hug, and he said that I must be hiding something on him.I was very angry at the moment, and I said to him “If you don't believe me, there's no point of going together.Let's broke up!”When Ryan heard my comment, he was staring at me very angrily.He shouted to me “Do you know what you're talking now? Broke up? I will never ever consider that.” When I tried to reply him, he suddenly leaned towards me and kissed me.I was very surprised by his reaction, and I tried to shovel him away from me.But he was holding me very tightly, and all I can do at that moment is to follow him.We kissed for a very long time, and then I told him to let go.I knew that he really loved me, and I have decided to have a big talk with my father tonight.Although I knew that it will be a very difficult task, I am not prepared to wince down.Ryan knew that I will be having a hard time tonight, and he told me to give him some information before I went home.

30 November 1982 (Rainy Day) – Part II
A while later, Ryan and I arrived at the restaurant.We sat down at the table quietly for a few minutes, and then a waiter approached us to help us take orders.Since I was very nervous at the moment, all I was doing there was just keep on thinking how to start our conversation.Ryan was very nice and he cautiously brought out the topic of my father, and he said “Kiki.... I really don't know how to start our conversation now.... We have been together for a few months now, and I really enjoy the time between us.On the other hand, I think that you're trying to hide something behind me…Is there any reason why you're doing that?”
When I heard his words, I was feeling quite bad.I knew that I have gotten to tell him a bit more about my family.I started by saying that “Ryan... As I have told you before, I was the only child in my family.My dad is a businessman, and my mom is a housewife.In addition, my dad opens his own firm and I need to help him to operate the firm when I graduated from university.”
Ryan was quite surprise to hear my comments, and then he asked “What kind of industry is your family operating on?Is it a big firm?”I knew that Ryan would be fainted when he heard my answer in a minute, but I think I shouldn't lie to him anymore.I told him that “My father's company is a comprehensive enterprise, and our family main business is on the oil industry.We also have some other business areas such as department store, restaurant, real estate, etc”
When I finished, he said “I can't believe it!!! So I assume your father must be a very successful businessman... Wait.... Is he the well-known billionaire Alex Fang?”I told him “Yes, you got my father's name correctly!” He stared at me and slowly said “No wonder your father disliked me so much this evening! How can he allow his only daughter to be with a guy like me? All he's looking for must be a guy with a bright future, and with a good background...”
I replied him by saying “You really know my father very well.... Let me tell you, ever since I was born, my father has been trying very hard to train me into his so-called “ideal” daughter.I have to obey his order, arrangement, and basically everything.I have to listen to him and I can't reject him.When I grow up, I was told that I have to marry a guy with a similar financial background in the future.Eventhough I was trying my best to tell him that I can make my own judgment, he kept on saying that I can't choose by myself.I was really frustrated about it, and I thought that I may not be able to fall in love with the one that I like until I met you a few months ago.”
Ryan was quite upset about it when he heard my comments, and he told me not to think too much about it.He also told me that he will try his best to let my father accepts him.I think Ryan has accepted my story, and right now my hardest part is to persuade my father to accept him.But I know that this battle is going to be long and hard to fight against with.

When Laurina finished reading the previous two chapters, she was astonished on her mom's background.She didn't know that her grandfather was a billionaire, and she's planning to clarify with Aunt Clara later on.What she's thinking on her mind now was trying to find out how her mom & grandfather's discussion on her father was about, and she found part of the diary written as follows:
1 December 1982 (Rainy Day) – Part I
I went home very late last night, and originally I thought that my father would be waiting for me at the sitting room.But when I got home, both my father and mother were gone to bed already.Then I told myself not to worry, and probably he will give me & Ryan a chance.
In the next morning, I got up and prepare to go downstairs for my breakfast.When I approach our dining room, I saw that my parents were sitting at the table waiting for me.I took a look at my mom's face, and she looked a bit worried.Then I took a look at my father, and he looked very stern.I told myself to relax and I should lead them into my discussion instead of being led by my father.I said “Good Morning, Mom & Dad”.My mom asked me to eat first, and she would like to speak with me when I'm done with my breakfast.When I was prepared to answer her with the answer of “Yes”, my dad stopped us and told me “Kiki, your mom & I would like to talk to you when we are done with the breakfast.I will wait for you at my den.”I knew that my father would like to talk to me on Ryan, and I told myself “Let's face it today and I have nothing to hide at all.”
Eventhough I told myself not to worry too much on it, but I did give my mom an eye signal to see how my dad's reaction is going to be.My mom looked very worried indeed and she signaled me to calm down and eat first.
When we finished our breakfast, I told my mom that I'll go back to my room and I'll go downstairs to find them in a minute.I thought that I need to do some preparation and also need to think about what I'm planning to tell them.I went downstairs 15 minutes later, and I saw that my mom was teary already.I have decided to start our conversation actively by saying “Dear Mom & Dad, I have to admit to both of you that I did fall in love with Ryan a few months ago... I knew that I didn't notify both of you in advance, but please forgive me on that... As you know, love is very hard to explain in words, and I was a bit worried when we began to go out a few months ago.... I don't know whether my intuition is correct or not, but after a month of dating, I knew that I have found my one....I hope that both of you can understand that I didn't mean to hide him at all, but I just don't know how to declare that.... At last, I wish that both of you can understand me & support me, and hope that I'll be having a great future with Ryan..."I spoke out all of my feelings gently, and I saw that my mom was very appreciated on my effort and gut.My mom said that I have finally grown up to be an adult, and she also said that I have becoming more mature recently.I was very glad to hear that my mom was supporting me so much, but on the other hand, I saw that my father was very arrogant.

1 December 1982 (Rainy Day) – Part II
When I saw his arrogance, I was really pissed off.What kind of person am I categorized by him? His daughter? His puppet? Or His pet?My mom saw my madness, and she spoke up “Alex, isn't that you have something to tell Kiki about?Please don't look at us like this.... I can't stand it!”Then my father slowly spoke up “Kiki, I knew that you won't like what I'm trying to tell you now... But I have got to tell you that I do have a great expectation on you since your birth.... When you grown up, I always told you that you have got to be perfect - in terms of life, studying, family, etc... I knew that I am harsh on you, but you have to understand that I have such a big enterprise, and I just can't accept anything that will ruin my reputation, power & status...”
When I heard my father's comments, I told him “Yes, father... I do know that you are a world famous billionaire...I can understand all of your worries...But so far in my life, I didn't do anything that is against you... I always do what you are telling me to do... I never ever disobey you.... So, can you please give me the freedom to be in love with Ryan?”My father reacted very quickly after me, saying that “No! You don't have your freedom of choice on your marriage for sure! How can I let you marry that guy?I can't accept anybody other than my choice to get married with you in the future....You have got to marry a guy with similar background as us, and he needs to have money, power, reputation and status....”I was feeling really heartbroken when I heard my father's comments, and I said “How come you disliked Ryan so much? He is a very talented photographer...Anyways, I think I should have a good future if I get married with him in the future...”
My father looked very fiery on my last sentence, and he replied me ruthlessly “How good is he? Did he have money & power? No, he got nothing! So how can I let you marry him?He won't be able to give you a comfortable life, Kiki.... Please awake! I know that this is your puppy love, but you should be careful on your choice.... I can't let anybody know that Alex Fang's daughter is going out with a tiny photographer!”
He then continued his conversation “By the way, I have already found the ideal guy for you....He is a very talented young fellow, and he is currently the director of a film producing company...He is handsome, wealthy, and most importantly, I like his personality and aggressiveness...I really think he is going to be the most qualified candidate for my daughter-in-law...
